Last month, true to our nature, we did something a bit rebellious.

We decided to open our doors to competitors with the intent of sharing, collaborating and – in the spirit of our open source industry – learning. From each other. We do it every day online as we surf each other’s work, case studies and thought leadership pieces. Why not collaborate in person to make the Columbus digital community stronger? The turn out blew us away. Over fifty digital marketing professionals showed up from both the agency and client side.

We want to hear from you.

The format of the event is totally up for discussion, so, if you have any feedback please email us or leave a comment to this post. We’d love to hear from you because we’re really just making this up as we go. Ultimately, we envision a true conversation with tension, debate and resolution on best tactics and strategies. For now, we’re going with themes to structure that conversation.

This month: Carolyn Kent, David Hunegnaw and Gen Z

This month, on May 19th, our focus will be Marketing to Gen Z, the generation born in the late 90s and early 2000’s.

The New York Times aptly called it in 2015, stating that Gen Zers, “are primed to become the dominant youth influencers of tomorrow. Flush with billions in spending power, they promise untold riches to marketers who can find the master key to their psyche.”

So… now what? How do we best reach and influence these game changing digital natives?

First, we’ll hear from Ologie’s Executive Strategy Director, Carolyn Kent. The esteemed Ms. Kent joined Ologie from Express where she led their social marketing and strategy. Her experience is incredibly impressive and we’re quite honored to have her. She’ll give us a condensed version of a larger talk she delivered at this year’s SXSWEdu called, “Gen Z: the status-quo-challenger generation”.

DavidHunegnawNext we’ll meet David Hunegnaw who will introduce us to Bylined, a new venture of his targeting Gen Z and Millennials making it possible for businesses to engage their fans and customers for unstock and on-demand photos. Truly revolutionary stuff disrupting the stock photography market and we can’t wait to hear from him.
